Nozawa Onsen BaseCamp Furnished Apartments 野沢温泉ベースキャンプ 大湯地区のウィークリーマンション
This great river the Chikuma, that our mountain streams flow into, is still carrying the remains of flooding the Nagano Valley from Typhoon Hagibis (known as Typhoon #19 here in Japan) down and out to the Japan Sea. We had no damage in the village, but some of the surrounding river valley in Iiyama and Nagano cities was flooded. This week as the colors return to the mountain, the major cleanup work is done and rewarded with a breath of crisp, clean autumn air. It was quite unusual to have the bullet train down until today, and the local Iiyama line (‘the slow life line’) that follows the river on a gorgeous rail path from Nagano will also be restarting tomorrow. We are thoroughly enjoying onsen life in this season of colors, and begin to look forward to the coming snow.
